DTI ARMM attends the ICCIG 4 in India

 The DTI-ARMM represented by Secretary Atty. Anwar A. Malang together with Mr. Hussein Biruar, Social Enterprise Division Coordinator attends the "Fourth International Conference on Creativity and Innovation for and from Grassroots (ICCIG 4)" at India Institute of Management in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India yesterday, January 28 along with the other delegates of Philippines and asian countries like India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Thailand.

 

The said conference came after the "Workshop on Policies to Support Grassroots Innovations" last January 27 in the same venue which they have also attended. It is a workshop addressed to government officials and other decision makers from Asia-Pacific region promoting in championing grassroots innovation by identifying specific needs of the country to nurture own grassroots innovation ecosystem and explore options for cooperation and collaboration at the regional level.

Grassroots innovation is a modality of inclusive innovation and a novel bottom-up solution for sustainable development generated by various organizations that aims to respond to the local problems. It has been leading successfully by The Honey Bee Network in India for almost three decades which provides the country a benchmark of frugal, friendly and flexible solutions for farmers, pastoral and artisan households, mechanics, forest dwellers and fishermen.

The conference and workshop was organized by United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) in collaboration with India Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA), Society for Research and Initiatives for Sustainable Technologies and Institutions (SRISTI), Grassroots Innovation Augmentation Network (GIAN).

The event will end tomorrow, January 30.
